Chanson des Fleurs

As I was photographing flowers at a garden in Fort Collins, Colorado, I became strongly aware of a vibration coming from the flowers.  If there's a vibration, I reasoned, there must be a sound; so I sat down to listen.  This piece is my effort to transcribe the amazing vibrating harmonies that I heard.

Composed by Emilyn Inglis

Performed by the Ars Nova Singers in Boulder, CO

When I was a child, my brother and I got to choose one story and three songs at bedtime.  These are some of the songs my parents sang.  I also snuck an original, "This Sky," onto the album, written for a friend's wedding.  I recorded them in folk style: one mic, my voice, and my guitar, in my bedroom, recording one take.  Singing doesn't need to be perfect; please sing along!  These songs will soothe tired children and parents.  While all of the songs are suitable as lullabies, they are not "kids' music," and can be enjoyed by anyone.
